Drake replaced by Dowding for WBC Muaythai State Title

It seemed a dream come true for Sam "The Jedi" Drake when it was announced he would get another chance at Jamie "The Dragon" Lunghitano at Battle Collossal 12, November 5, 2011. The two were to meet again for the WBC Muaythai WA Middleweight Title after Lunghitano dropped down a weight division following his split decision loss to Andy Regan for the WA Super Middleweight title May 29, Drake had first lost to Lunghitano in 2010 via unanimous decision. Although the shattering news came when doctors diagnosed stress fractures in Drake's feet checked after complaints of recurring pain in training for his face-off with Lunghitano, most likely sparked in his last bout in September.
Promoter Phon Martdee had no other choice but to replace Sam Drake with former fighting apprentice Jon Dowding, a dark horse quietly fighting up the ranks in novice competitions and who has also been dominating in MMA bouts in the past year. Dowding, since 2010 has been training Muay Thai out of Saengmorakot Muaythai Gym (SMG) coached by Rob Nagington, Tip Aumanun and Toto Saengmorakot; He is also a competent Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu grappler trained by Master Goioere Dias the same coach and team that Lunghitano was training with before making a complete return to concentration on Muay Thai August this year.
Dowding has great reach, brutal kicking and grappling power whilst "The Dragon" is known for being awkward and throwing blows from unorthodox positions. The match up will be scheduled for 5 rounds of full Muay Thai action. Dowding vs Lunghitano will not only be one close to home for some but promises to be one that comes with fireworks - Be sure not to miss it.
