Sanapar Noi Lights Up the Wild West

The explosive event sanctioned by IPMTF and IAMTF was organised and
promoted by Perth's Mr Muay Thai Phon Martdee. The event proved to
be yet another series of sensational bouts.

The night began with Adrian Scatetta of Habby's against Daryl Greentree
of dean's in a middleweight contest. Both fighters exchanged blows
and kicks with neither opponent gaining advantage over the other.
The second round saw the stronger stamina Scatetta began to have the
upper hand by the third round Greentree was defending more than attacking
and Scatetta emerged as the winner.

The second fight between Albert Altaniya from Phon's Gym and Math
Eterton from Rick's Viper Muay Thai proved to be even more exciting.
The round opened with both both skillful fighters testing each other
out. Eterton was more eager and approached the more patient Altaniya,
it proved to be a wrong call. Altaniya had more skillful combinations
of Muay Thai techniques and countered all eterton's attacks with his
own combinations. The second round saw Altaniya beginning his arsenal
of blow and convincingly gained the victory in the final round.

The third fight was a unique match between two women Marianna Radaich
from Allan Pond's and Stephanee Bouquet from Dean's. Both women proved
just as destructive as the men. The crown constantly cheering for
more action as both women aggressively aim for an early knockout.
Radaich and Bouquet using boxing skills most of the time, literally
exchanged blow for blow, toe to toe. The crowd cheering loudly, it
became a matter of who could more blows. In the final round with explosive
action from start to end the victory went to Bouquet on points.

By the fourth contest the crowd was already warmed up and ready for
more action. Paul Ranallo from Habby's was matched against Simon collie
from Sunn Martial Arts. Both fighters were checking each other's skills
in the opening round and by the second round both were already exchanging
blows and unleashing combinations. But it seems both fighters were
of equal skills and endurance, the third round further showed their
excellent skills but it was difficult to judge who was better. The
decision was a draw.

In the fifth match, Andrew Jefferson from Daryl's Kao Sok was up against
Ben Hathaway from Habby's in a junior welterweight contest. Both fighters
demonstrated their Muay thai techniques and combinations and were
already using their full arsenal in the whole round. A more determined
Hathaway had the weight advantage over Jefferson, showing his stage
prowess on all rounds. Jefferson's attack was not enough to deter
Hathaway and the point decision went to Hathaway.

The sixth bout saw Allan Pond's Rhys Donald up against Phon's Alfo
Handoko. Donald has more experience on stage while Handoko had strong
determination. Handoko's early attacks were well blocked and answered
by Donald. The accuracy and power of Donald's blows kept deterring
Handoko. Then in the second round Donald began advancing more.Handoko's
accuracy was reduced and his defence was unable to prevent Donald.
The third round victory was Donald's.

The crowd atmosphere was almost too intense by the seventh fight.
It was between Phon's Gym's Andrew Duncan and Bill's Paul Foreman
for the IAMTF WA middleweight title. The round exploded with a leaner
and taller Duncan executing his hard and fast kicks on Foreman but
the more experienced Foreman was able to counter duncan's attacks
with some of his own combinations. Foreman who had more stamina and
stage maturity, had advantage over the younger Duncan. With every
attack almost countered, the crowd awaits the outcome enthusiastically.
Duncan's roundhouse kicks proved lethal but so were Foreman's punches,
by the fourth round, both men were fiercely exchanging toe to toe.
With explosive action right up to the fifth round, the victory was
awarded to Foreman in a split decision.

The eighth fight of the night was for the IAMTF WA Junior middleweight
title between Chad Walker from Open Palm and Andrew Nelson from Lanna
Muay Thai. The experienced and agile Walker is certainly a veteran
of Muay Thai, the speed and agility of his attacks extremely accurate.
Nelson's good defence at times seemed unable to defend against Walker.
But the fight was still far from over, Nelson gave it his best with
combinations of kicks and punches. Walker countered perfectly and
paid back Nelson's combinations with his deadly knees to Nelson's
body. The five round match ended on the third round with the skillful
Walker taking an early victory.

The ecstatic crowd was screaming for more action when the ninth bout
began. Phon's Gym's Raymond Scepanovich was up against Dayne Brajkovich
from Simpson's Stable. It was a fight for the IAMTF WA Cruiser Weight
title. The 'Hammer' Scepanovich was just sensational right at the
beginning, towering over Brajkovich. Scepanovich immediately gave
it all he had and just blew Brajkovich away. Scepanovich in the second
round used his favourite Muay Thai weapon, his thunderous knees. Brajkovich's
attack and defence just managed to deter Scepanovich but not for long.
The determined Scepanovich kept coming with his knees and it was clear
what his intentions were. The crowd turned wild and all cheering for
a knockout action. Brajkovich was just unable to defend against Scepanovich.
The victory went to Scepanovich after the referee stopped the fight
on the third round as Brajkovich was unable to continue.

The semi-highlight of the night witnessed Brett Dalton from Open Palm
against Queensland's Chris Barrett. It was the IPMTF Oceania Superlight
Heavyweight title. Dalton, a popular fighter from Western Australia
was defending his title against the Queensland challenger. Barrett,
himself an experienced fighter, had fought Dalton two years ago but
had lost on that encounter. Both fighters got down to business when
the bell rang. Barrett had the physical advantage but Dalton seemed
more aggressive. The crowd cheered wildly as both fighters tried to
crack each other. The second round saw both fighter's excellent Muay
thai skills but Barrett was already gaining the upper hand on Dalton.
Dalton's right cross combinations were countered by Barrett's roundhouse
kicks kept Dalton defenceless. The final moments of the second round
saw Barrett attacking with full arsenal of Muay Thai combinations
including knees on Dalton and the bout ended when the referee stopped
the fight. Victory clearly went to Queenslander Chris Barrett with
a TKO.

The arena atmosphere was the most intense by the last and final bout.
The explosion of the night was the IPMTF World Junior Welterweight
title defence and the Thai Consul General's Cup 2000. WA's resident
Thai star Sanapar Noi ffrom Phon's Gym, was ready to defend his title
against Craig O'Flynn 'The Irish Commonwealth Champion'. Both men
were in excellent form. The first round saw O'Flynn exerting his skills
and prowess on Noi who seemed more patient and reserved.

But O'Flynn was still unable to put any pressure or gain advantage
over Noi. Noi was calm and controlled but yet looking dangerous. The
second round immediately changed, Noi was heated up and began to unleash
his full arsenal, Noi's Muay Thai skills were totally world class and
even O'Flynn was surprised. The third round had O'Flynn trying even
harder to and heavier combinations of elbows and knees but every blow
and technique he tried Noi repeated with even more perfection and accuracy.
O'Flynn could not manage to put any pressure on Noi although he was
challenging. Both fighters showed top class skills but it was Noi's
stamina and experienced execution of the techniques that totally outclassed
O'Flynn. The victory went to Noi on the fifth and final round. Noi still
remains undefeated in more than 10 previous fights on Australian soil.

Watch for another World Muay Thai Championship coming this December
2nd in a showdown of Japan vs Australia superbout.
