Farewell

Jar Peng (Sargent Armporn Sarthong) was my great uncle who had inspired me with the true Art of Muay Thai. When I was younger he picked me up after school while my parents were out at work to baby sit. He taught me Muay Thai and the correct way of use and also the ways of a happy and healthy lifestyle. He encouraged me to compete for the province and to gain recognition. He was not just a great fighter but a real gentleman. He survived the IndoChina War where North fought South Korea and also the late Vietnam War. If it was not for him passing on his own knowledge and teachings of the Art of Muay Thai it would not be possible for me to understand the art and Thai lifestyle to pass it on to others. Awaiting to see me again this December sadly, he passed away on the 23rd June 2005 at 86 years old. (While I was in North America conducting the Seminars and Teachings). Through my respect and loyalty I will continue to do my best from what you have advised me through the past. I wish his soul and spirit to go in the right direction and I say thank you for everything.

-Phon Martdee

Muay Thai History:

The tradition of Muay Thai dates back over 2000 years to a time when the Thai people used a superior fighting art to forge an independent country, which evolved into modern day Thailand, the land of the free. Muay Thai is intrinsic to Thai culture along with the weapons art of Krabi Krabong (Sword Fighting) and Muay Thai has been part of the military training syllabus since ancient times and still is today.
