About Phon's Martial Arts Centre

A name that remains synonymous with excellence, strength and a history like no other, since its inception in 1989 is one that many may know as Phon’s Thai Martial Arts Centre.

Also known as Phon’s Gym, run by Chief Instructor and WBC promoter Phon Martdee, the Perth based fitness/ Muay Thai facility boasts an astounding record for training over 30 champions.

Phons most popular is the General ‘Muay Thai for Fitness’ class held six days a week where members can enjoy the benefits of Muay Thai through training for fun and fitness, alongside other individuals at a similar level under the guidance of our professional instructors that include Phon Martdee (B.A. Physical Education & over 30 years experience in Muay Thai), 20-year-old Australian Champion Pamorn Martdee, four-time WBC National Campion/WBC International Champion Dusan Salva and former Lumpinee/ Rajdamnern Top 10 ranked World Champiom ‘Robocop’ Tananchai.

Phon’s features a professional scale boxing ring, seven heavy bags, over 50 sets of training pads, a weights facility and a huge floor space completely padded with gymnastic-safe rubber flooring. Members may also choose to undergo the accredited Professional Boxing Association of Thailand’s grading system – Muay Thai Levels of Proficiency, starting from Beginner and progressing through to Grand Master.

Classes range from Juniors aged 4–14 years (Monday & Thursday 4–5pm/ Saturday 10–11am), Beginners (Monday–Friday 5.30–7.30pm) as well as Professional/Intermediate/Fighter Training (Monday–Friday 6.00–8.40pm/ Saturday 10–11am). Private one-on-one sessions with Phon are also available upon request. Phon’s Thai Martial Arts is close to the Perth CBD, being only 10 minutes walking distance from the Central Perth train station.

Phon Martdee is internationally known as Australia’s WBC Muay Thai promoter and also regarded as a pioneer for authentic Muay Thai in Australia, promoting over 60 events since 1989 at a list of locations such as Gold Coast’s Conrad Jupiters casino, Perth’s Challenge Stadium and the Burswood Dome.

In 1997 he was also recognised as the Blitz Hall of Fame Muay Thai Instructor of the Year.
